Café Yolk approached GROUND to refresh their high street presence, their interior signage and product branding. The Café in the town of Reading is the first and the owner wishes to develop a franchise model for future growth plans.

Developing an instantly recognisable and highly visible brand to stand out from the many other high street brands were key criteria of the brief. The brand also needed to re-enforce the style of food and beverages on offer to attract passing trade from the extensive high street footfall.

Creating a cohesive brand identity across all customer touchpoints is key to developing brand affinity and ongoing customer loyalty.

We were engaged to develop the brand for Café Yolk for their high street presence and brand experience in the café for customers. As the relationship has built we have worked with them more closely on the campaigns that run seasonally. Demographic, buying habits and seasonality of footfall can be the deciding factor in the success or failure of a small café, even more critical in this University Town. Turnover of covers is also a factor for success – and all elements that we have considered in the development and continuation of campaigns and the material created, such as student loyalty cards and voucher offers.

Bespoke packaging for their take-away offering has also contributed to brand awareness and new footfall in the café.

Ultimately Café Yolk are now an award winning café – winning Best Café Bistro South East England and gaining ratings of 8.6/10 on Foursquare // 4.7/5 on Facebook // 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor.
